About SyriaNews.com

Clear journalism
on Syria, every day.

SyriaNews.com was founded in 2025 to serve a specific need: rigorous, independent English-language reporting on Syria for an international audience that cares but often lacks context. We cover politics, economy, security, society, and culture — without agenda, without simplification.

Our Mission

Syria deserves journalism equal to its complexity.

The Syrian conflict has been one of the most reported events of the 21st century — and one of the most misunderstood. Too often, coverage reduces a diverse, ancient society to a battlefield or a refugee statistic.

We believe the European and American readers most engaged with Syrian affairs deserve the same quality of reporting they’d expect for any major democracy. That means naming sources, explaining institutions, tracking economic data, and following up on promises.

Syria is rebuilding. That process will shape the region for decades. We intend to cover every step of it.

Editorial principles

What we stand for

Verification first

Every claim in our reporting is sourced to at least two independent parties. We publish corrections prominently and without delay.

Syrian voices

Our reporters and editors are predominantly Syrian or of Syrian heritage. We report from inside Syria whenever it is safe to do so.

Independence

We accept no funding from governments, political parties, or armed groups. Our revenue comes from reader support and transparent advertising.

Context, always

Syria's story is complex. We write for readers who are intelligent but not specialists — always providing the history and context needed to understand each event.
